CANBERRA - Turkey and Australia on Tuesday signed a defense cooperation agreement aiming to strengthen military ties.
Turkish Chief of General Staff Gen. Hilmi Ozkok and the head of Australia's Defense Force Air Chief Marshal Angus Houston signed the agreement during a ceremony in Canberra.
''The agreement will give Australia and Turkey the flexibility to enhance cooperation in military and defense areas of mutual interest,'' Houston said.
Gen. Ozkok is expected to meet Australian Defense Minister Brendan Nelson.
