ANKARA - Total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks increased 172 million U.S. dollars to 65 billion 41 million U.S. dollars between August 1-15, 2003.
According to Central Bank's provisional statistics, total foreign exchange deposit accounts at banks was 64 billion 869 million U.S. dollars on August 8.
Foreign exchange deposits increased 194 million U.S. dollars to 49 billion 492 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Total internal foreign exchange deposits increased 230 million U.S. dollars to 47 billion 320 million U.S. dollars while external foreign exchange deposits decreased 36 million U.S. dollars to 2 billion 172 million U.S. dollars in the same period.
Meanwhile, total foreign exchange deposits at the interbank market increased 96 million U.S. dollars to 361 million U.S. dollars.
Foreign exchange deposits with letter of credit and super foreign exchange accounts decreased 350 million U.S. dollar to 15 billion 199 million U.S. dollars between August 15 and 22, 2003.
TURKEY REPAYS USD 791.87 MILLION IN FOREIGN DEBT BETWEEN AUGUST 1-27
Turkey repaid a total of 791.87 million U.S. dollars in external debt between August 1 and 27.
The Central Bank data show that the Treasury repaid 390.70 million U.S. dollars; the Central Bank repaid 14.63 million U.S. dollars; and the administrations with general and consolidated budget paid the remaining 38.91 million U.S. dollars.
Turkey has repaid 10 billion 483.34 million U.S. dollars in external debt since the beginning of the year.
Turkey repaid 847.51 million U.S. dollars in external debt in January, 1 billion 948.87 million U.S. dollars in February, 1 billion 57.93 million U.S. dollars in March, 915.06 million U.S. dollars in April, 1 billion 133.96 million U.S. dollars in May, 1 billion 936.25 million U.S. dollars in June and 1 billion 851.89 million U.S. dollars in July.
The total external debt repayments in 2002 had been 17 billion 365.18 million U.S. dollars.
