Preliminary Meeting For World Trade Organization Ministers Conference

ANKARA - A preliminary meeting took place in Foreign Trade Undersecretariat as a preparation for the 5th World Trade Organization (WTO) Ministers Conference.
Addressing the opening of the meeting, State Minister Kursad Tuzmen said preparations were underway for the WTO Ministers Conference that would take place in Cancun, Mexico, between September 10 and 14.
Tuzmen said today's meeting was held with the representatives from public and state institutions to review for the last time Turkey's position.
Tuzmen said in case the negotiations result on January 1, 2005 as it was planned, and in case the sides reach agreement, an international liberalization process would start that would put its seal to coming 10 years.
Tuzmen said studies in Turkey continued in this direction, and that Coordination Committee and WTO held meetings since February and that preparations came to the final stage.
