ANKARA - A group of members of the Confederation of Revolutionary Workers' Trade Unions of Turkey (DISK) held a demonstration in front of the bureau of the International Labor Organization (ILO) in Ankara on Monday.
DISK Chairman Suleyman Celebi said that they held the demonstration to protest dismissals of workers and to remove obstacles before the labor unions.
Recalling that the annual conference of the ILO had been continuing in Geneva, Switzerland, Celebi said, "DISK did not attend this year's conference. Because the Justice & Development Party (AKP) ignores decisions of the ILO and does not fulfil its promises."
Members of the DISK chanted slogans against the government, and some of them chained themselves to door of the bureau.
Tight security measures have been taken in and around the ILO Bureau.
