KOCAELI - "There is no new development about the seizure of armored vehicles, long-range weapons and ammunition in a ship at the Derince port in the Marmara Sea," Governor Erdal Ata of Marmara city of Kocaeli said on Monday.
Ata said they would act in line with the directives of Ankara.
Speaking to reporters, Ata said, "Coast Guard teams, acting on a tip off, searched a British-flagged ship 'Scan Bothnia' which stopped by Derince port to load cargo as it was on its way from Ukraine to the United Arab Emirates."
Ata said the ship was confiscated as there were some armored vehicles, tanks, automatic weapons and their spare parts (which were not declared to the port authority).
"Nobody has been detained so far. According to the international agreements, such ships that pass the straits should make declaration about any military equipment they carry," Ata remarked.
