ANKARA - Banks' credit volume increased 1 quadrillion 111.5 trillion Turkish liras (TL) to 47 quadrillion 747.9 trillion TL between August 8-15, 2003.
The total credit volume at banks was 46 quadrillion 636.3 trillion TL on August 8.
The credits given to financial sector were composed of 758.7 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 1 quadrillion 614.8 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
The credits given to non-financial sector were composed of 168.3 trillion TL of loans given by Central Bank, 40 quadrillion 946 trillion TL of loans given by deposit banks, and 4 quadrillion 260 trillion TL of loans given by development and investment banks.
TOTAL DEPOSITS AT BANKS INCREASE BY 135.2 QUADRILLION TL
Total deposits at banks increased 3.75 quadrillion Turkish liras (TL) to 135 quadrillion 251 trillion TL as of August 15, 2003.
The Central Bank data show that the total deposits were 131 quadrillion 245.3 trillion TL on August 8.
Excluding inter-bank deposits, the total deposits, which was 129 quadrillion 639.5 trillion TL on August 8, increased 3 quadrillion 618.7 trillion TL to 133 quadrillion 258.2 trillion TL on August 15.
The total foreign exchange deposits under total deposits at banks decreased 42.1 trillion TL from 64 quadrillion 458.1 trillion TL on August 8 to 64 quadrillion 416 trillion liras on August 15.
The total TL deposits increased 3 quadrillion 660.9 trillion TL to 68 quadrillion 842.2 trillion TL on August 15. The total TL deposits was 65 quadrillion 181.4 trillion on August 8.
The total TL deposits was composed of 37 quadrillion 16.4 trillion TL deposits at public banks, 31 quadrillion 40 trillion TL of deposits at private deposit banks and 566.5 trillion TL of deposits at foreign banks.
SECURITIES ACCOUNT AT BANKS INCREASE BY 778.7 TRILLION TL
The securities account at banks increased 778.7 trillion Turkish Liras (TL) to 43 quadrillion 117.9 trillion TL on August 15, 2003.
The total securities account at banks was 42 quadrillion 339.2 trillion TL on August 8.
The Central Bank data show that there were a total of 42 quadrillion 504.5 trillion TL of securities including 25 quadrillion 341.8 trillion TL of securities and 17 quadrillion 162.7 trillion TL of securities over foreign currency in the deposit banks portfolio.
The securities over TL at deposit banks are composed of 4 quadrillion 919.5 trillion TL in treasury bonds, 19 quadrillion 928 trillion TL in state debenture bonds and 446.4 trillion TL in stocks.
A total of 885.6 trillion TL of foreign currency securities at these banks are abroad while there is a total of 16 quadrillion 153.5 trillion TL of state debenture bonds among the domestic securities.
The total securities account at the development and investment banks was 610.2 trillion TL.
FOREIGN EXCHANGE RESERVES INCREASE BY USD 261 MILLION
Foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank increased by 261 million U.S. dollars between August 15 and 22, 2003.
According to the Central Bank's weekly bulletin, the Central Bank's foreign exchange reserves which were 29 billion 450 million U.S. dollars on August 15, increased to 29 billion 711 million U.S. dollars on August 22.
Total foreign exchange reserves of banks and private finance organizations increased 575 million U.S. dollars from 10 billion 226 million U.S. dollars to 10 billion 801 million U.S. dollars between August 1 and 8.
The international reserves of Turkey comprising gold reserves and foreign exchange reserves of the Central Bank, commercial banks and private finance organizations increased 1.6 billion U.S. dollars from 40 billion 618 million U.S. dollars to 41 billion 684 million U.S. dollars between August 1 and 8.
