ISTANBUL - A major exhibition of 203 works by French sculptor Auguste Rodin will open at Istanbul`s Sakip Sabanci Museum on Tuesday as the Turkish museum seeks to raise its international profile.
As well as Rodin`s most famous sculptures, visitors will also be able to view drawings and watercolours by the artist alongside antique Greek and Roman statues that inspired his work.
"Rodin isn`t just the man behind `The Thinker` and `The Kiss`," said Jacques Vilain, former director of the Rodin museum in Paris, where many of the works are normally housed.
The Turkish public will also be able to view 22 works in plaster, two in marble, 79 in bronze, and 58 drawings.
A Picasso exhibition at the Sabanci, a former Ottoman mansion on the western bank of the Bosphorus, last year drew in 250,000 visitors, breaking all Turkish records.
