BRUSSELS - The 45th meeting of Turkey-EU Partnership Council will be held in Luxembourg on Monday.
The meeting will coincide with the beginning of the actual negotiations between Turkey and the EU on the chapter headings of science and research.
The Partnership Council convenes twice a year, and makes its decisions unanimously.
The draft document prepared by the EU to assume a joint attitude includes several requests such as Turkey's accelerating reform process, normalizing civilian-military relations, granting more freedom to religious minorities, fully implementing the additional protocol, normalizing its relations with neighboring countries, and refraining from preventing EU-NATO cooperation.
Meanwhile, current EU president Austria has been maintaining its diplomatic efforts for opening of actual negotiations with Turkey on the chapter headings of science and research.
The EU General Affairs and Foreign Relations Council is expected to find a political solution at its meeting in Luxembourg tomorrow. If it fails, Turkey will be represented at the Partnership Council meeting by Turkey's Permanent Ambassador to the EU Volkan Bozkir.
