ANKARA - Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) condemned yesterday's Israeli artillery shelling in the northern Gaza Strip, and expressed its concerns about escalating tension in the Middle East.
Releasing a statement on Saturday, the MFA expressed profound sorrow over killing of seven Palestinian civilians including two babies and a woman in the Israeli artillery attack.
''We condemn the attack which was staged in a sensitive period in the Middle East. We are concerned about escalating tension in the region. We wish that such events would not occur again and those who are responsible for the attack, will be brought to justice,'' it said.
The MFA added, ''there is not any other option expect for resumption of the peace talks under the Road Map. The international community also expects the sides to resume peace talks. We urge restraint between the two parties, to put an end to the spiral of violence.''
