Serdar Denktas Presented With Politician Of The Year Award

USAK - Deputy Prime Minister and Tourism Minister Serdar Denktas of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) said late on Wednesday, ''if Turkey takes a step back on the Cyprus question, it will have to make concessions from other issues.''
Usak Young Businessmen's Association (UGIAD) decorated Serdar Denktas with the ''Politician of the Year Award''.
Speaking at the ceremony, Denktas said, ''the Cyprus question has still been continuing because our plan envisaging two sovereign and equal regions was not accepted. A solution in Cyprus depends on recognition of two communities under equal conditions. The Greek Cypriot side does not plan to accept a solution based on equality. They have been trying to deceive the world by claiming that President Rauf Denktas of TRNC was opposing solution efforts. Two weeks ago, the Economic Frame Agreement was signed between Turkey and TRNC. If Turkey takes a step back on the Cyprus question, it will have to make concessions from other issues.''
''Cyprus is a matter of esteem for Turkey. Therefore, we invite Turkish businessmen to invest in TRNC. We believe that Turkish businessmen will increase their investments in TRNC. Turkish Cypriot people constitute a community protecting their rights and expending efforts to have democratic freedoms. We want to prepare our Maras region for economic activities. Our main targets are equal sovereignty, bizonal administration and Turkey's guarantee,'' he added.
