BAGHDAD - Justice and Development Party (AK Party) parliamentarians Turhan Comez and Cevdet Erdol met with Shiite leaders in Najaf.
Comez and Erdol met with Sheik Rahim Al-Sadi, the son of Muhammad Said Al-Hakim, who was injured in an attack two days ago.
AK Party parliamentarians gave messages of friendship toward Iraq. Al-Sadi called for support of the neighboring countries for stability of Iraq.
Al-Sadi said people of the region suffered a lot, stating that this suffering would continue if nothing is done. Al-Sadi said they wanted neighboring countries to exert a special effort for stability of Iraq.
Al-Sadi said they did not want to express a positive or negative view toward coming of Turkish soldiers to Iraq, nor to any country, stating that the important thing was the attitude of the countries after they come to Iraq. He said they would cooperate with those countries if they do something good.
Pointing out that there were strong ties between peoples of Turkey and Iraq, Al-Said said the attacks aimed at turning peace atmosphere in Iraq into violence. However he said peace was a religious obligation for them.
AK Party parliamentarians later visited rooms of Al-Sadi's house which were damaged after the attack.
The Turkish delegation, comprised of the parliamentarians, Red Crescent officials, engineers and technical personnel, are expected to return to Turkey on Thursday.
