Coskun: We Will Get Credit From U.S.

IZMIR - Industry and Trade Minister Ali Coskun said on Wednesday that ''we will get the credit from the U.S. soon. If this happens, we will be stronger. If not, there is no problem at all.''
Speaking in a news conference, Coskun said that while preparing the budget they didn't think that the credit would definitely be received or they didn't think of the opportunities which Turkey might get at the end of the Iraqi war.
Coskun said that ''if these happen, economy will be stronger soon. So we made our accounts due to the fact that these would not come true. But our accounts came out to be true. Inflation has been taken under control and the real interests are decreasing. Unemployment decreases. If we can't get credits, we must return to our own sources. You can sort out the problems in short term by owing money, but Turkey can't do anything by continuously borrowing money to pay the debts.''
Referring to the law on selling off deforested lands, Coskun said that the law would be submitted to the parliament again, adding that he had difficulty in understanding the attitude of President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on the issue. ''Political responsibility belongs to the government. The law will be submitted to the parliament again and then to president's approval,'' Coskun said.
Coskun added that ''if there is no extraordinary situation, the parliament will not convene on an early session.''
