KAYSERI - ''The President should be elected by the people ,'' said former President Suleyman Demirel when commenting on debates about next presidential elections.
Demirel also said that Turkey should hold early elections, adding, ''I don't agree that early elections will make harm to the stability of a country. On the contrary, it will bring stability.''
Touching on recent economic developments as well, Demirel said, ''there can be fluctuations. (But) The monetary unit should be strong and functional. If monetary unit has no function, that means it is useless.''
