Sergio Ramos, the 20-year-old Real Madrid central defender, says he is happy with the decision by Spain coach Luis Aragones to deploy him at right back for the World Cup.
Ramos acknowledged an early adjustment period but says he has settled comfortably into the role, putting him ahead of Real teammate Michel Salgado for the starting spot. "Now I'm much more at ease with it," he said.
Ramos joined Real Madrid from Sevilla for 27 million euros after making his Spain debut against China in March 2005, and scored four goals for his club last season.
Spain open Group H play against Ukraine on 13 June in Leipzig, then face Tunisia on 19 June in Stuttgart, and close the first round against Saudi Arabia on 23 June in Kaiserslautern. The Spanish side hopes the tournament will bring the country its first World Cup title.
