ANKARA - Ankara Criminal Court ruled that Necmettin Erbakan, the former leader of the banned Welfare Party (RP), can serve out his 2 year 4 month imprisonment sentence in the ''missing trillions' case in his domicile.
Erbakan was sentenced to imprisonment on charges that he ''falsified private documents''.
The hearing before the criminal court took place upon a decision of Supreme Court of Appeals indicating that Erbakan should be re-tried according to provisions of the new Turkish Penal Code (TCK).
Erbakan will serve out his sentence in his domicile for just 11 months if the verdict is confirmed by legal authorities.
