BERLIN - German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder said on Tuesday that Germany would continue to support Turkey's European Union (EU) membership process.
Turkish Ambassador to Germany Osman Koruturk whose term in office in Berlin ended, paid a farewell visit to Chancellor Schroeder.
Speaking at the meeting, Chancellor Schroeder said that approval of EU adjustment packages by Turkish parliament had made an important contribution to Turkey's progress on the path leading to EU membership.
He stressed that they would continue to support Turkey during meeting of EU Commission.
Meanwhile, Koruturk said in his part, ''we agreed that relations between Turkey and Germany have been on the best level. We also took up the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan to Germany between September 1 and 3, 2003.''
