BRUSSELS - The North Atlantic Treaty Organization hailed Thursday the announcement that Al-Qaeda chief in Iraq Abu Musab al-Zarqawi had been killed in a US airstrike.
"He will not be missed," said NATO spokesman James Appathurai on the sidelines of a meeting of alliance defence ministers including US Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld in Brussels.
The spokesman added that the ministers had discussed Zarqawi's killing during their first working session on Thursday morning, but gave no further details.
