ANKARA - Italian Air Force Commander Gen. Leonardo Tricarico met his Turkish counterpart Gen. Faruk Comert on Tuesday in Ankara.
Releasing a statement, the Air Forces Command said, ''Gen. Tricarico is currently paying a formal visit to Turkey upon invitation of Gen. Comert to confirm Turkey's long-standing cooperation with Italy and consolidating friendly relations between the two allied countries.''
''In addition to the long-lasting cooperation and bilateral relations, an agreement was signed between Turkish and Italian air forces in 2005 to enable the parties to exchange equipment and information. Under the agreement, four Italian pilots were trained in Turkey on F-16 jetfighters,'' it said.
Gen. Tricarico is expected to depart from Turkey on June 8th.
