I HAVE EXPLAINED THE ACTIONS TO TWO POLICE CHIEFS
Captain Murat Eren, who was detained on charges of being the leader of Atabey Gang, explained all the details, in his interrogation at the court.
Eren said, ''house of Yunis Akkaya in Eryaman district was the most appropriate place to hide the bombs. At the beginning of this year, I explained the actions to Rasit Cavdar, the Security Chief in Merzifon town. He told us to talk to Director Celal in Black Sea city of Corum.
During my questioning at the police department, they reminded me the incidents in which military personnel were involved and asked whether I got orders from commanders of higher ranks. I told them that there was not such an order and that this is an individual one.''
SIGNAL FROM CENTRAL BANK TO RISE INTEREST RATES
Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz said, 'interest rate is the strongest weapon of Central Bank. We use this weapon whenever it is necessary.''
Yilmaz called on Monetary Policy Board for an unplanned meeting and gave the signal to the markets that, ''we are here''.

A SOLDIER KILLED IN BINGOL
A group of members of the terrorist organization PKK opened fire on a military troop in the southeastern city of Bingol with long-range weapons. A soldier was killed and eight others were injured in the armed attack.

THANKS DINGO FOR FINDING THE HEROIN
Police seized 207 kilograms of heroin which was tried to be transferred from Istanbul to Europe. A total of 11 people were detained in an operation launched in 4 cities. Istanbul Security Chief Celalettin Cerrah congratulated the narcotics dog Dingo for finding the heroin.

EU GIVES UP AKP FROM NOW ON
Republican People's Party (CHP) Deputy Chairman Onur Oymen spoke to daily Vatan prior to June 12th, the day which was announced earlier as the beginning of actual negotiations.
''If the negotiations do not start on June 12th, we will give the foreign investors the impression of a country gradually moving away from Europe. We are heading towards a crisis with the EU. Early elections are obligatory,'' Oymen said.
SIGNAL FOR INTERVENTION
Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz gave signals of increase in interest rates and intervention in foreign exchange.
Yilmaz called Monetary Policy Board for an extraordinary meeting as rate of inflation was high in April and in May.

PKK terrorists opened gunfire to military unit passing by Bingol-Elazig highway, and 1 soldier died and 8 others were injured in the clash.

Turkish Central Bank Governor Durmus Yilmaz has given the signals of a possible increase in interest rates. The Central Bank Monetary Policy Board will convene extraordinarily on Wednesday upon call of Yilmaz. Yilmaz also indicated that they might intervene in foreign exchange rates.
TURKISH MODERNIZATION
Modernization of 48 Turkish F-4 war planes will be carried out in Turkey. Turkish defense industry companies Havelsan and Aselsan will undertake modernization of radar and flight systems.
