Baykal: Nobody Has Resorted To Sell Forest Lands In Our 80 Year Old Republic

BODRUM - Opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal said on Saturday, ''nobody has resorted to sell forest lands in our 80 year old republic.''
Baykal visited the field which was damaged during a forest fire in Aegean Bodrum town.
Noting that there were people, who were waiting with the hope that the burned places would be private property with the adoption of the article on selling lands which lost the character of forest, Baykal said that the government noted that the changes would also be valid for the lands within the scope of the article until 1981.
Baykal said that 22 years had passed since 1981 and things happened during that period would be brought onto agenda after change was made regarding the article and the places which burned now would also be brought on the agenda. He added that leaders of Turkey namely Ataturk, Ismet Inonu, Celal Bayar, Adnan Menderes, Demirel, Ecevit, Ozal and the others did not take the responsibility of doing such a thing throughout 80 year old republic.
