Turkish Labor and Social Security Minister Murat Basesgioglu departed Istanbul for Geneva on Sunday to take part in the 94th General Assembly of the International Labor Organization (ILO).
Before boarding his flight at Ataturk Airport, Basesgioglu told reporters that Türkiye remains committed to continuing labor reforms aligned with modern standards, saying the government aims to secure "better living and work conditions" for its citizens.
The Türkiye delegation will include government officials alongside representatives of employers and workers. Conference discussions are expected to cover ILO programs from the 2004-2005 period, as well as reports on shifts in working conditions and occupational health.
On the sidelines, Basesgioglu is scheduled to meet ILO Director General Juan Somavia and a number of other attending ministers. On 9 June, he will deliver a keynote address at a round-table session focused on child labor before returning home on 10 June.
