KUTAHYA - Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul said, ''a new package was submitted to Iran on condition that it suspends its activities on nuclear energy.''
When a reporter recalled, ''U.S. Secretary of State granted 5 days to Iran (with mediation of Turkey). It was stated that a sanction will be imposed on Iran if it does not fulfill the expectations within 5 days,'' and asked his views about the issue, Gul said, ''Germany and UN Security Council member five countries held a meeting in Vienna. They submitted a new package to Iran on condition that it suspends its nuclear energy activities. Turkey wants this issue to be solved through peaceful and democratic ways. Because any incident in Iran affects Turkey and the whole region.''
''We have been exerting efforts for a democratic solution for a long time. This package is a new opportunity. Turkey is doing its best regarding the issue,'' added Gul.
