MOSCOW - Poet Nazim Hikmet Ran was commemorated on the 43rd anniversary of his death at his tomb in Moscow.
Julide Taskent, wife of Turkish Ambassador in Moscow, Turkish-Russian Businessmen Association (RTIB) Chairman Ali Ihsan Akiskalioglu, Turkish-Russian Researches Center (RUTAM) Chairman Hakan Aksay, Turkish citizens living in Moscow, and some Russian friends of Hikmet attended the ceremony.
RTIB Chairman Akiskalioglu told A.A correspondent that they considered Nazim Hikmet a culture bridge between Turkey and Russia, stating that Nazim Hikmet promoted Turkey to the world.
RUTAM Chairman Aksay in his part said Hikmet was one of the most important values of Turkey.
Aksay said moving Hikmet's tomb to Turkey was in question from time to time, and noted that, ''I personally think this should not be in question. Nazim Hikmet is a unique bridge connecting Turkey and Russia. He was born in Russia and died in Russia. Turkish citizens come here to visit Hikmet's tomb.''
