ANKARA - Turkish General Staff released a statement on Saturday regarding an operation on a house against a gang in Eryaman district (in Ankara) and said, ''it is striking that media received all information in details before military authorities get any information or document pertaining to the contents of the incident.''
The statement said, ''teams of Ankara Security Department detained some Turkish Armed Forces members late on May 30th, 2006 and brought them to Anti-Terrorism Center for questioning. We have learned about this upon the news reports in media organs on May 31st, 2006.''
''Turkish General Staff accepted the information in media organs as tip off and General Staff Military Prosecutor's Office made a preparatory investigation against the military personnel, involved in the incident, on charges of 'hiding and embezzling the military equipment', arrested the three military personnel and put them to military prison,'' noted the statement.
The statement said General Staff examine the incident, noting that Ankara Public Chief Prosecutor's Office carried out the investigation apart from the parts concerning Military Judgement.
