WARNING FOR POLARIZATION
Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TUSIAD) Chairman Omer Sabanci criticized the government over causing polarization on secularism.
''Every criticism was considered as a conspiracy against the government. Turkey's agenda was filled with issues which were clear to pave ways for polarization on axis of secularism,'' he noted.
Sabanci said, ''secularism has deeply influenced Turkey and a way of life that has been accepted. Turkey's esteem which has been rising in the past three years, has gradually started to erode.''
IS MY AHMET IN THE DEATH LIST?
17 workers lost their lives in the mine collapse that occurred in the coal mine in Dursunbey town of western city of Balikesir.
Relatives of Ahmet Gunes, who died in the mine collapse, fainted when they looked at the list of those who died in the mine collapse.

Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TUSIAD) harshly criticized the government regarding EU process, economy, secularism debates and Turkey's image.
STRANGE ATTITUDE AGAINST AMBASSADOR
Turkish Ambassador to Germany Mehmet Ali Irtemcelik who had ''circular crisis'' with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan was not received in the meeting between Erdogan and German Foreign Minister. Turkish FM Abdullah Gul felt uneasy when cameras focused on Irtemcelik during German FM's meetings.

HE GAVE ONE FATWA, FIVE HOPES FADED
Theologist Cevat Aksit said that organ donation is not proper to Islam religion. Then, the family of 17-year old boy (who was in vegetative state) gave up organ donation. Five patients who were waiting for the organ transplantation were sent to their homes.
SHOCK OF INFLATION AND USD
Turkish inflation rates in May are worse than expectations. As of May, annual inflation became 9.86 percent in consumer prices and 7.66 percent in producer prices. This development increased value of USD to 1.6 YTL.

LAMENT TO 17 MINERS
17 miners died in the firedamp explosion in a coal mine belonging to Sen Madencilik in Dursunbey town of western city of Balikesir. It was reported that Ismail Arslantas (19) and Salih Evcimen (22), who died in the mine collapse, had newly started to work in the mine.
RICE WARNS IRAN FOR THE LAST TIME THROUGH THE MEDIATION OF GUL
U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice called Turkish Foreign Minister & Deputy Prime Minister Abdullah Gul by phone on Wednesday. Gul was talking to Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov when Rice called him. Rice said, ''Mr. Gul, talk to Iranian Foreign Minister. They should say they give up uranium enrichment. Sanctions will start.''
Gul called Iranian Foreign Minister Manuchehr Motaki and conveyed the warning. Iranian leader Ahmedinejad on Friday said the nuclear program would continue.

BUSINESS WORLD WARNS
Turkish Industrialists and Businessmen Association (TUSIAD) Chairman Omer Sabanci said, ''every criticism was thought as conspiracy. Turkey's rising esteem started to erode.''
''Instead of discussing the context of reforms in education, issues having religious references were brought to the agenda. Issues which were clear to cause polarization in the axis of secularism were opened to discussion,'' Sabanci said.
Meanwhile, TUSIAD High Consultation Board Chairman Mustafa Koc said the government did not display a clear determination to fulfill European Union (EU) ideal as it did in the past, and this causes questioning of its sincerity on this issue.

TURKEY BECOMES CENTER OF ''NUCLEAR PERSUASION'' INITIATIVES
The United States called Turkey and asked for support before announcing its plan forcing Iran to make cooperation.
The diplomacy traffic, which actively included Turkey to put an end to the nuclear crisis with Iran, started on May 31st.
Turkish Foreign Minister Abdullah Gul received an ''urgent'' call from U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice as he was talking to Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov.
Rice told Gul that Iran would be proposed new opportunities in case it gives up the nuclear program. Rice wanted Turkey to support this statement and convey this to Iran.
INFLATION ABOVE EXPECTED
Inflation figures in May was above the expectations as it was in April. Turkish Board of Statistics (TUIK) announced that consumer prices are up 1.88 percent and producer prices 2.77 percent, in May 2006.
As of May, inflation was recorded as 9.86 percent on a year-on-year basis in consumer prices and 7.66 percent in producer prices (2003=100).
Inflation rates in the first five months of the year were calculated as 4.53 percent in producer prices and 7.36 percent in consumer prices.

ERDOGAN: LIFT THE EMBARGO
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan who met German FM Steinmeier wanted embargoes which were put on Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) to be lifted. Steinmeier promised to pay attention to the request of Erdogan.
TURKEY TO BE ENERGY CROSSROAD
Turkey is rising with Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline. Turkey is considered as the most appropriate place (with its regime) for energy transfer.

FUEL CONSUMPTION DECREASES DESPITE INCREASE IN NUMBER OF VEHICLES
Consumption in fuel decreased 5 percent when compared with the previous year. This caused a contradiction as number of vehicles appearing in traffic increased 11 percent. According to representatives of the sector, this has two reasons, ''either people use their vehicles less, or there is an increase in illegal fuel.''
TERRORISTS OPEN GUNFIRE ON GENDARME STATION: ONE SOLDIER DIES
One soldier was killed when PKK terrorists opened gunfire on a gendarme station in Guclukonak town of southeastern city of Sirnak.
Sirnak Governor's Office released a statement and said four terrorists were killed in an operation that was launched in the region after the gunfire on the gendarme station.

Security Department spokesman Ismail Caliskan said that there is no tension between General Staff and Security Department due to soldier suspects who were detained in Atabey operation, as it was claimed.

Vordonisi island which was buried under the sea in the earthquake in Marmara on 9th century will be covered with a globe glass. The island will be lightened under water, and tours will be held to the island.
