Turkish Delegation In South Korea

PUSAN - The Turkish delegation who attended the opening of 22nd World Inter-Universities Sports Games (UNIVERSIADE) in South Korea, visited on Friday the Turkish Martyrs Cemetery in U.N. Monumental Tomb.
The Turkish delegation headed by Izmir Governor Yusuf Ziya Goksu and which is composed of parliamentarians and journalists, was welcomed by officials in the monument. Officials said that there were 2,300 graves in the monument including 462 Turkish martyrs.
Goksu said that ''we were proud of visiting the graves of Turkish soldiers who came to Korea by the decision of the U.N. between 1950-1953 and who fought for international peace. We were happy to see the courage of the Turkish soldiers once again. Turkish soldiers had also showed their bravery in Canakkale.''
During the visit, Governor Goksu and Izmir mayor Ahmet Pristina signed the special book of the monument. Turkish Ambassador to South Korea Selim Kumeralp and Izmir Security Director Halil Tatas were also present in the meeting.
