ANKARA - Various non-governmental organizations held a protest on Sakarya street, Ankara asking the government not to send soldiers to Iraq.
The group including the members of Human Rights Association (IHD), Confederation of Public Workers Trade Unions (KESK) and leftist parties EMEP and SDP shouted slogans against the U.S.
KESK Financial Secretary Ihsan Avci said in his speech that 99 percent of the people were against the war, calling the government not to take part in it.
Asking everybody to take part in the public meeting to be held in Kýzýlay on Saturday, Avci said that public employees tried to protect their rights by organizing various activities for nine days.
