Kayalar: United Nations Has Allowed Another 101 Million Usd Part Of Exports To Iraq

ANKARA - Foreign Trade Undersecretary Tuncer Kayalar said on Friday, ''the United Nations has allowed transportation of one more part of contracts, which were signed between Turkey and Iraq before the war under the oil for food program. This part is about 101 million U.S. dollars.''
Releasing a statement, Kayalar noted, ''these contracts include cleaning equipment, foodstuff, telecommunication and transportation sector. After the recent permission of the United Nations, amount of exports from Turkey to Iraq has reached 533 million U.S. dollars.''
''The United Nations has been carrying out a series of works to put into practice contracts, which were signed before the war, in line with requirements of Iraqi people. We expect exports to Iraq to exceed 800 million U.S. dollars till the end of the year,'' he said.
Kayalar added, ''in the first seven months of 2003, Turkey's exports to Iraq has reached 292 million U.S. dollars. Our contractors signed contracts worth of 120 million U.S. dollars following the war.''
