ISTANBUL - Turkish-Chinese Business Council Chairman Yavuz Onay said on Thursday that agreements would be signed on Tuesday after bilateral meetings of the Chinese trade delegation, adding that those agreements might be around forty-fifty million U.S. dollars.
The 62-member Chinese trade delegation comprising Chinese Ministry of Commerce officials and representatives of purchase, investment and contracting companies was given briefing.
Speaking to reporters, Onay said that the delegation were carrying out preliminary studies, and Chinese Minister of Commerce Fuyuan Lu would come to Turkey on Monday, and he would sing agreement with State Minister Kursad Tuzmen on Tuesday after their meetings.
Onay said that the Chinese purchase delegation would hold meetings at the Foreign Trade Complex and investment delegation would hold meetings with Turkish companies at the Marmara Hotel on Friday.
Recalling that such visits were paid every year, Onay said, ''we had given the start for this visit one month ago. Texts of the agreements which are going to be signed on Tuesday has already been prepared.''
Noting that those agreements covered steel-iron, marble, chemicals, Onay said, ''I estimate that purchase by Chinese companies would be around forty-fifty million U.S. dollars.''
Stressing that total exports from China to Turkey was 1 billion 150 million U.S. dollars while total exports from Turkey to China was only 250 million U.S. dollars, Onay said that Chinese companies were interested in alcoholic drinks, tobacco and sugar factories that would be privatized.
