ANKARA - Turkish Maritime Undersecretariat said that search-and-rescue efforts were under way to find five missing Turkish sailors after collision of a Turkish cargo vessel and a Greek tanker on Thursday.
Releasing a written statement, the Undersecretariat said, ''a Panamanian flagged cargo vessel 'Han' operated by a Turkish ship owner, and a Greek tanker 'Alios Artemis' collided in the Aegean Sea. The cargo vessel sank after the collision. Greek coast guard officials rescued 7 sailors from the cargo vessel. Meanwhile, body of a crew member was recovered from the sea. Search-and-rescue efforts are under way to find the missing Turkish sailors.''
The cargo ship carrying steel, was on its way from Turkey to the Moroccan port of Casablanca.
