BEIJING - Turkey has signed the convention of the Asia-Pacific Space Cooperation Organization (APSCO) and taken the first step towards becoming a founder member of the APSCO.
The convention was signed by Turkish Ambassador to the People's Republic of China Oktay Ozuye on Thursday.
Diplomats from eight countries which signed the convention earlier, were also in attendance at the signing ceremony.
APSCO convention envisages cooperation for use of space for peaceful purposes, was signed by the People Republic of China, Bangladesh, Indonesia, Iran, Mongolia, Pakistan, Peru and Thailand on October 28th, 2005. Turkey became the ninth country signing the convention.
Only the Mongolian parliament has adopted the convention so far. The APSCO will be officially set up in Beijing after the People's Republic of China receives final approval from the participating countries.
