ISTANBUL - Four of the lawyers of Abdullah Ocalan, head of the terrorist organization PKK/Kongra-Gel, were charged of misusing their authority. ''An indictment was prepared incriminating them'', officials said. The indictment prepared by the Chief Prosecutor's Office in Istanbul indicates that lawyers Ibrahim Bilmez, Omer Gunes, Mustafa Eraslan and Zeynel Degirmenci met their client at the Imrali Prison on November 30th, 2005.
''Earlier, a decision was made by a court in Bursa preventing exchange of notes between the lawyers and the convict since they were targeted to guide activities of the terrorist organization. However, lawyers managed to convey Ocalan's propagandistic views to the press media and led them to broadcast Ocalan's statements, including his orders for the terrorist organization. They clearly violated the law,'' the indictment says.
The prosecutor seeks a prison term from one to three years for the lawyers.
