IZMIR - ''Turkey earned 7.3 billion USD from exports in May 2006 --an increase of 22.17 percent over May 2005'', Turkish Exporters Union Chairman Oguz Satici announced on Thursday.
Holding a press conference in Aegean city of Izmir, Satici said that Turkey's exports were up 9.95 percent in the first five months of the year, over the same period of 2005. ''Turkey earned 32.2 billion USD from its exports between January and May 2006,'' he indicated.
Satici stated that Turkey's exports reached 76.3 billion USD on a year-on-year basis.
On the other hand, industrial products exports were up 23.25 percent, while the rise in agricultural products exports was a mere 10.05 percent in May 2006.
Turkey earned 6.3 billion USD from its industrial product exports, and 728.7 million USD from its agricultural product exports.
