ISTANBUL - Fourteen people were injured when an explosion believed to have been caused by a defective boiler rocked a building in a busy Istanbul neighborhood Thursday, police said.
The blast ripped through a shooting range on the ground floor of a five-storey building in Uskudar, on the Asian side of the city, at 1:00 pm (1000 GMT), the Anatolia news agency said.
A fire broke out after the blast, but was quickly taken under control, Anatolia said.
The exact cause of the blast was not immediately known, but sources close to the investigation said police at the scene suspected a boiler explosion.
