ANKARA - King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden hoped on Tuesday that Turkish-Swedish relations will continue to improve within the EU.
Making a keynote speech during the dinner hosted in his honor by Turkish President Ahmet Necdet Sezer at the Presidential Palace in Ankara, King Carl XVI Gustaf indicated that historical ties between Turkey and Sweden have brought the two countries closer to each other despite their geographical distance.
The Swedish King noted that dignitaries of Swedish industrial and trade circles are accompanying him during his visit to Turkey in order to establish new relations, and enhance existing relationship.
Swedish entrepreneurs are interested in Turkish market, he said.
Stating that they read many facts about Turkey in Swedish literature and media, King Carl XVI Gustaf said, ``this makes Turkey the touristic destination visited the most by citizens of the nordic countries, which have a thirst for sun.``
The Swedish King added that he will also visit ancient site of Ephesus and Istanbul.
