ANKARA - Former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit has still been in coma on life support, Gulhane Military Medical Academy (GATA) declared on Tuesday.
Releasing a statement, GATA said, ``although vital functions are stable, Ecevit has still been in critical condition. He has begun reacting to pain. Cerebral hemorrhage has been taken under control. Despite antibiotics treatment he has been suffering from high fever.``
Ecevit, 82, had a stroke on May 18th after attending the funeral of judge Mustafa Yucel Ozbilgin, who was killed in an armed attack against the Council of State HQs in Ankara.
He was taken to the GATA medical center with aphasia and weakness in his right arm and leg. The stroke led to a bleeding in the left side of his brain. A surgery was performed to remove the accumulated blood and reduce the pressure on his brain. Since then he has remained in coma on life support.
