ANKARA - ''Turkish government has taken important measures in the past 3.5 years to reduce mother and infant mortality,'' Turkish Health Minister Recep Akdag said on Monday.
Taking the floor at a workshop held to boost cooperation on health sector between Turkey and Finland, Akdag said, ''Physicians were collaborating between themselves. Now cooperation has started particularly between ministries and research organizations.''
''Turkish government implements a transformation program in health sector. We should take advantage of the experiences of different countries while implementing this program,'' he indicated.
''Mother and infant mortality is high in Turkey as compared with the European countries,'' Akdag remarked.
Four working groups will carry out studies aiming to amend health services and to prepare action plans, executives said.
