SENTENCES OF APOLOGIZE IN INTENSIVE CARE
Visits to former Prime Minister and Democratic Left Party (DSP) honorary leader turned into ''making peace with one another,'' and ''apologizing'' for some politicians.
DSP Secretary General Ahmet Tan, who has been waiting at the hospital for 11 days, said, ''there are two notebooks for Mr. Ecevit. One is for the citizens who come from various regions of Turkey. It includes the wishes and feelings of the citizens. The other notebook is for politicians. This notebook has turned into sentences of ''apologize'' and ''making peace with one another.''
Tan said the politicians who write on the notebook apologized to Ecevit for the political mistakes they did, and their offenses.
U.S. SAVES TURKEY FROM DANGER OF COMMUNISM
Taking the floor at a ceremony in West Point Military Academy, U.S. President George W. Bush said former U.S. President Harry Truman foresaw the danger of cold war and expended military and economic assistance to Turkey and Greece. ''Thanks to this vision of Truman, U.S. won the cold war and Greece and Turkey rescued from the danger of communism,'' he noted.
Statements of Bush as regards to Turkey reminded the dialogue between Colonel Sam Marshall (Billy Zane) and Polat Alemdar (Necati Sasmaz) in the film ''Valley of Wolves-Iraq''.

FIRST ASPHALT, THEN DRILLING
Istanbul Asphalt Factories Industry & Trade Corp. (ISFALT) has begun constructing Habibler-Arnavutkoy highway in July 2005. The project was worth 15 million new Turkish liras (YTL). It was almost completed in May 2006. However, another unit under the Istanbul Municipality IGDAS (Istanbul Gas Distribution Corp.) drilled the new highway to lay natural gas pipeline. And, this caused additional costs.
ABSORPTION CAPACITY ON AGENDA AGAIN
EU foreign ministers, who discussed Europe's future in Vienna, found the ''savior'' which will eliminate the enlargement concerns. The absorption capacity, which is included in most of the recent documents regarding Turkey, will have more importance in coming days. EU executives said, ''there is a general approach to consider absorption capacity as a new Copenhagen criterion.''
BIRTHDAY OF KARAOGLAN
82nd birthday of former PM Bulent Ecevit was celebrated in front of the hospital where he is kept under treatment for days. Rahsan Ecevit cut a fruity cake, which is Ecevit's favorite. She said, ''we are happy today. According to doctors, Mr. Bulent is recovering very slowly.''

SPECIAL LAW FOR SARIK TARA
The Energy & Natural Resources Ministry is preparing a special law which enables sale of three power plants of Enka at a higher price by by-passing the judiciary. This sale was blocked by the Council of State. The bill will exclude the Council of State.
HOTEL WITH ROOMS WORTH 5 MILLION USD
Muhsinzade Yalisi in Kurucesme, Istanbul will be opened as a boutique hotel next week. Ahu Aysal, owner of the hotel, spent 55 million USD to build this hotel which has 11 rooms. One can spend a night at the suits with a Bosphorus view in return for 2,700 Euros.

HE IS RECOVERING VERY SLOWLY
Former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit made a surprise in his 82nd birthday. Gulhane Military Hospital (GATA) said Ecevit started to give reaction although he is unconscious. In a birthday party that was made in front of the hospital, Rahsan Ecevit said, ''he is getting better very slowly.''
Releasing a statement, GATA said, ''although vital functions are stable, Ecevit has still been in critical condition. He has begun reacting to pain. Cerebral hemorrhage has been taken under control. Despite treatment of antibiotics, he has been suffering from high fever for the last two days.''
ERDOGAN IS FACE TO FACE WITH THE MOST SERIOUS CRISIS
Newsweek said the attack on Council of State put Turkish government into a difficult situation. In its article, the Newsweek said, ''Erdogan may focus on economy instead of religion. Markets make decisions there.''

TURKEY OF AKP
44.3 percent of 15-19-year-old girls in Turkey and 22.6 percent of boys at the same age neither work nor go to school. This means that one out of every three teenagers between 15 and 19 are not only unemployed but also lack education. According to a survey by Turkish Confederation of Employers' Unions (TISK), gender discrimination still continues in Turkey when families send their children to school.
COUNCIL OF STATE SHOCK TO GVT
PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Justice & Development Party (AKP) executives, who made remarks that gangs were behind the Council of State attack, faced difficulties due to these remarks. After former soldier Tekin, who was shown as the key name in ''deep state'' relations, was freed, AKP members refrained from making comments urgently. Two more people who were detained in connection with the attack were released.

THEY MADE CHILDREN A CRIME MACHINE
According to a survey by the Istanbul Governor's Office, 37 families living in Istanbul incite 207 children to commit crimes. Children are taught how to snatch, usurp or pickpocket. 108 of these children are boys, and 99 are girls.
RISE IN FOREIGN EXCHANGE RATES REFLECTED TO PRICES
After the foreign exchange rates increased, automotive loan rates were up 0.05 points. And, automobile prices rose 3 percent. Prices will also be raised in June. Automotive companies are pessimistic about this situation.

INTEREST-FREE LOAN FOR KOBIs
Vakifbank, which gave loans to small and medium scale enterprises (KOBIs) worth 376 million new Turkish liras (YTL) in the last three years, has introduced a new loan package. Vakifbank decided to grant 150,000 YTL of loan per person to KOBIs in order to raise production, quality and competitive power. The one-year loan will be interest-free. Vakifbank Director General said that they will support enterprises even under the severest economic circumstances.

PM Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who visited the Aegean Region at the weekend, said, ''citizens should ask themselves if yesterday or today is good. Tension that escalated between the ruling and the opposition after the attack on Council of State, started to soften with a historic photograph in which the leaders were hand in hand in TOBB General Assembly.
Businessmen, politicians and all segments of the society supported messages of unity.
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Deniz Baykal and True Path Party (DYP) leader Mehmet Agar united their hands and hailed the delegations.
BOMBS HURLED ON CUMHURIYET HQ BLONGS TO ARMY
It was claimed that the three hand grenades that were hurled to HQ of the Cumhuriyet newspaper, belonged to the army.
According to the news report of Hurriyet newspaper, Turkish Machine and Chemical Industry (MKE) wrote to the Security Department stating that the bombs belonged to Land Forces Command and was delivered to the army between the years 1975-1985.

''EOKA PALACE'' ON MASS GRAVES OF TURKS
It was revealed that ''EOKA Palace,'' which was constructed in the memory of EOKA organization that started armed activities against Turkish Cypriots 51 years ago, was constructed in the area where 89 Turkish Cypriots from Taskent were massacred in 1974.
The 89 people from Taskent were taken from their villages on August 4th, 1974 to go to refugee camp in Limassol. Those people were forced to get off the bus near Palodia village on the way to Limasol and killed under gunfire.
TURKEY TO BECOME LEADER IN JEWELERY EXPORTS
Goldas Director General Sedat Yalinkaya, who has been elected as the entrepreneur of the year, said Turkey which ranks the second of the world in gold jewelry exports, will pass Italy which ranks the first.
