ATHENS - Petrol bombs were hurled at a bank in a western suburb of Athens overnight, sparking a fire and causing serious property damage, police said Sunday.
Police have cordoned off the area around the Greek National Bank branch in the Egaleo suburb and opened an investigation, they said.
Such attacks are frequent in Greece and are blamed by police on anarchists or far-left activists, aimed often at vehicles or offices belonging to banks or foreign interests.
