ANKARA - Metin Corabatir, the Turkey Press Spokesman of United Nations High Commissioner For Regufees (UNHCR) said on Monday that UNHCR generally had good dialogue with the Turkish government.
Speaking to A.A correspondent, Corabatir said that UNHCR and the Turkish government were in contact and that they hoped they could find a solution regarding the future and return of the refugees staying in Mahmur camp in north of Iraq.
Recalling that UN High Commissioner Ruud Lubbers visited the camp a few weeks ago, Corabatir said that the people in the camp told Lubbers that they wanted to return back to their country and they wished UNHCR to play a role in improving conditions in that regard.
Corabatir underlined the importance of the return's being safe and voluntary, adding that the people had to be supported legally, economically and socially when they return back.
