AVIGNON - Former Formula One driver Heinz-Harald Frentzen was stopped for speeding at 214kph on a motorway south of Avignon, French police reported Friday.
The 39-year-old German, who was on his way to the Magny-Cours circuit on Thursday when he was caught driving at 84kmh over the official limit, was fined 750 euros and had his licence confiscated and his car impounded.
Frentzen won three grand prix and retired after 10 years on the grid in 2003.
