GOLCUK - A number of balloons were set free out of respect to those who lost their lives in the massive quake disaster of 1999 in Golcuk, the epicenter of the earthquake.
Citizens gathered in yard of Barbaros Hayreddin High School in the 4th anniversary of the quake disaster.
Candles were lit and balloons were set free.
At 3.02 a.m. participants observed a minute of silence out of respect to those who lost their lives in the disaster.
A massive earthquake measuring 7.4 on the Richter scale hit Marmara region at 3.02 a.m. on August 17, 1999. Thousands of people lost their lives while tens of thousands of others were injured. The quake left many people desperate and homeless.
