ANKARA - ''There are no casualties in the fire which broke out at Ataturk Airport today,'' Istanbul Governor Muammer Guler has said.
Guler noted that the fire broke out at 3.30 p.m. in HAVAS Cargo, then spread to Sistem Logistics, Celebi Cargo and MNG Cargo buildings.
''Firefighters have been working to extinguish the fire. Two planes normally used for water bombing forest fires are flying over the scene to douse the flames. There is not any problem regarding air traffic. There are no casualties, but buildings were damaged by the fire. Some parts of the building collapsed,'' Guler said.
He added that the fire might have been caused by an electricity short circuit.
On the other hand, sources said that one person suffering from smoke inhalation was hospitalized.
