ANKARA - Fire at Istanbul's Ataturk Airport has been contained, said Turkish Transportation Ministry Deputy Undersecretary Baris Tozar.
Speaking to A.A correspondent, Tozar indicated that there are no problems concerning flight security.
''The fire-fighters of the State Airports Administration (DHMI) and the Civil Aviation DG are working to stop the fire. We are taking measures to prevent it from spreading the passenger terminals,'' he stated.
On the other hand, DHMI DG Mahmut Tekin said that the cause of the fire is immediately unknown, while DHMI Director in Istanbul Irfan Balta noted that fire does not hamper air traffic.
Meanwhile, explosions occur in the building from time to time.
