IZMIR - The 72nd International Izmir Fair will be held between August 26 and September 10, 2003.
Holding a press conference, Izmir Mayor Ahmet Piristina said on Friday, ''the main theme of this year's fair is determined as 'Space Technologies and Robots'. One thousand 112 firms will take part in the fair. This year's theme increased interest of participants.''
''Egypt will be the honorary guest of this year's fair. Meanwhile, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration of the United States will officially take part for the first time in the 72nd International Izmir Fair. NASA will promote its experiences and researches in the space in its stand in the fair. Also, Astronaut Albert Sacco, who flew as a payload specialist on STS-73, which launched on October 20, 1995 and landed at the Kennedy Space Center on November 5, 1995 and who raised the Turkish flag in the space for the first time, will also join the fair. Sacco will share his space experience with visitors at a seminar,'' he added.
