ANKARA - Gulhane Military Hospital (GATA) authorities said that there was no change in health condition of former Prime Minister Bulent Ecevit.
Releasing a statement on Saturday, GATA said that Ecevit's treatment was continuing.
Yesterday's statement noted that Ecevit was brought to the hospital at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday because of problems caused by high blood pressure. He was taken into surgery at 9:45 p.m. and it ended at 04:30 a.m.''
The statement said, ''Ecevit was diagnosed with a stroke on the left side of his brain, with symptoms that included high blood pressure, and weakness in the legs. He is breathing with the help of a respirator. Ecevit is under sedation to avoid a new stroke. Although his vital signs are stable, his overall situation remains serious.''
On the other hand, Democratic Left Party (DSP) leader Zeki Sezer quoted doctors (from GATA) as saying that Ecevit's health condition was not getting worse, stating that it was a good news.
''Doctors said that he is not in coma, but he is under sedation,'' Sezer added.
