ANKARA - ''Important progress has been made in review talks within the scope of stand-by deal,'' said International Monetary Fund (IMF) Turkey Representative Hugh Brendenkamp on Thursday.
Releasing a written statement, Brendenkamp recalled that IMF delegation has been holding talks in Turkey since May 5th, and added that the talks were expected to be concluded next week.
Treasury Undersecretariat executives earlier indicated that macro-economic developments, public finance, monetary policies and structural reforms have been discussed in IMF delegation's meetings with Turkish officials.
The talks, due to finish today, are preparation for a review, on which the next tranche of the loan package depends.
''In order to finish certain technical studies, talks will continue over the weekend. It is expected that the IMF delegation will leave Turkey at the start of next week,'' the Treasury said in a statement.
