ANKARA - Haluk Koc, the deputy group leader of the Republican People's Party (CHP) said on Wednesday that CHP earlier stated that it was against Turkey's contributing to the unlawful order in Iraq.
Speaking in a news conference in the parliament, Koc said that the evaluations of the summit held in Presidential Palace yesterday had to be shared with the public opinion.
Noting that there was no change in the previous views of CHP about the issue of sending soldiers to Iraq, Koc said that ''CHP is against Turkish soldiers' going to Iraq unless an international decision is taken on the issue. A similar statement was issued in the German parliament yesterday.''
Recalling that Turkey asked some questions to the U.S. and that it waited for responses, Koc said that ''will the American side tell Turkey that it should not be in north of Iraq if the Turkish Army enters Iraq? We must also ask that. Will Turkey not be in north of Iraq, but will it be in other places of Iraq? Is there an order already been set up there? Was a plan made beforehand? Do they try to bring a formality to that part of Iraq? We must ask these questions and openly discuss them. We hope the evaluations made during such close meetings to be shared with the public opinion, too.''
