ANKARA - ''I regard this attack as an attack on all institutions of our Republic,'' said Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Wednesday while speaking about the armed attack on Council of State members.
Erdogan told reporters that, ''it is an advantage that the attacker was caught immediately. However, it is important to learn where this stemmed from. We are very sorry over the death of Council of State member Mustafa Yucel Ozbilgin. I wish speedy recovery for the Council of State members who were injured during the attack.''
The attack occurred in the Council of State Chamber 2 during a committee meeting this morning. Five judges, including Mustafa Yucel Ozbilgin, were wounded in the attack. The gunman, who was identified as lawyer Arslan Alparslan from the Istanbul Bar, was detained and taken to the Anti-Terror Department for interrogation.
Ozbilgin, who was shot in the head in this morning's armed attack against the Council of State, later died in the hospital.
