ANKARA - Turkey which thinks not to wait for a new U.N. resolution to send soldiers to Iraq, prepares to take up the issue with the U.S. in a new process.
High ranking officials of the Foreign Ministry said on Wednesday that Turkey which regarded adoption of a new U.N. resolution as a weak possibility, tends not to wait for such a decision for sending soldiers to Iraq.
The same sources said that all the details had to be known before sending Turkish soldiers to Iraq, adding that the limits of the regions where the Turkish soldiers would be charged and the geographical conditions should be known very well.
The same officials said that a new process started between Turkey and the U.S., adding that an American delegation which could come to Turkey could present the Turkish government the responses to the questions asked by Turkey.
Meanwhile, Ankara focuses on the possibility that 10,000 Turkish soldiers could be asked from Turkey for participating in the international coalition in Iraq.
Sources noted that it was not realistic to wait for a decision on sending soldiers to Iraq before September, noting that crowded delegations composed of representatives of nongovernmental organizations, deputies, and military officials could go to Iraq and talk to people in the region before sending soldiers to Iraq.
